PoE 2 Guide: Daze Explained - Mechanics, Duration, and Interactions

In Path of Exile 2, every combat mechanic has layers of depth that shape how players approach both offense and defense. One such mechanic, Daze, may seem simple at first, but it carries significant implications for Stun-based and melee-heavy builds. Understanding how Daze works - its duration, scaling, and synergy with related effects - can turn an average character into a powerhouse capable of Path of Exile 2 Currency locking down enemies and amplifying damage potential.

This guide covers everything you need to know about Daze in PoE 2, including its base mechanics, how it interacts with Stun Buildup, how to inflict it reliably, and its connection with other debuffs like Broken Stance.

What Is Daze in Path of Exile 2?

Daze is a temporary Debuff that increases the amount of Stun Buildup an enemy takes. When an entity is affected by Daze, they take 50% more Stun Buildup from all incoming hits. This means that enemies are significantly easier to stun while Dazed, especially when paired with high physical or melee damage.

This increase is multiplicative, not additive - meaning it stacks favorably with other sources of Stun Buildup. For example, if a skill already has a 1.5× Stun Buildup multiplier from physical damage and you apply Daze, the final buildup becomes 1.5 × 1.5 = 2.25×, or a 125% total increase in Stun Buildup.

In practical terms, Daze can make even tanky rare monsters or bosses susceptible to stuns that would normally be impossible to land. This opens up crowd-control potential for builds that rely on sustained melee combat or timed bursts of damage.

How Daze Duration Works

The base duration of the Daze Debuff is 8 seconds, giving players plenty of time to take advantage of the increased Stun Buildup window. However, this duration can vary depending on the source that applies it.

Some skills and support gems can apply Daze for shorter or longer durations. For example, the Overextend Support Gem applies Daze on the player for 5 seconds whenever they critically hit with a supported skill. This serves as a downside, temporarily making you more vulnerable to stuns instead of your enemies.

It's important to note that Daze does not stack. If a new Daze effect is applied to an enemy who is already Dazed, it will replace the existing debuff only if the new one has a longer duration. This means that spamming skills that frequently appDaze are less important than cheap POE 2 Exalted Orbs maintaining uptime through strong, timed hits or specific interactions that keep enemies weakened continuously.
